The University of Illinois, Business Instructional Facility, designed by Architect Cesar Pelli, an alumnus of U of I, and Landscape Architect Ted Wolff. The project has earned the LEED Platinum certification by excellence in sustainability in 5 key areas: Sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection, and indoor environmental quality. “BIF” was the first such building at any public university in the world to achieve such high LEED status.

Located on the campus of U of I at Sixth and Gregory, the 160,000 square feet of space accommodates state-of-the-art classrooms, career development and academic counseling centers, student program office, recruitment suite, 300-seat auditorium and space for students to meet and study. The U-shaped structure surrounds an open, naturally light common area with a south facing courtyard.
