Trump Tower

Trump International Hotel and Tower was designed by architect, Adrian Smith of Skidmore, Owings and Merrill. Construction started in March 2005 and was completed in 2009. Trump Tower is the 2nd tallest building in North America, after the Willis (formerly Sears) Tower also in Chicago. There are 92 floors, 339 hotel rooms, 486 condominiums and currently Trump holds the record for the highest living space(s) above ground. The Hancock building is 2nd in highest living space, also in Chicago. It was slated to reach a height of 1,500 ft, 330 ft lower than its current height. The tower incorporates three setback features designed to provide visual continuity with the surrounding skyline, each reflecting the height of a nearby building. The Tower is one of the few buildings to disrupt the Loop grid pattern by diverting Wabash street traffic around the building and creating a dramatic visual presence from the North and South.
